How to reduce oily/shiny makeup appearance throughout the day!

While looking at makeup lines that do cater towards a much broader spectrum of shades and complexions, it can be an exciting journey to have the freedom to choose the best option  that caters to our skin type. From oily, to dry a major factor that affects how makeup will look wearing it throughout the day is the type of skin care regimen you decided to follow and if you're using a primer.

Makeup can appear oily if you've decided to skip applying a primer before applying your makeup. It helps makeup appear smoother and less shiny/oily throughout the day allowing makeup to look mattifying.

Brands to look for when searching for shades with a variety of undertones are listed below.

Collections to look for when searching for a good selection of primers are below

Another tip to watch out for are makeup or skin care products that don't go with your skin type. In the case of  oily or oily combination skin types, a heavy or cream based product can make makeup appear oilier.

Are facial mists the same as facial toners?

As for some who believe that facial toners and facial mists are overpriced water  it should be kept in mind that beauty items work best together as a whole to give the best results that one ingredient alone cannot.
So, are both products the same? Not exactly. Facial toners are different from facial mists because a facial toner gives the best results if used after cleansing with your favorite cleanser. Its purpose is to remove any cleanser that was left behind after rinsing your face, and also to remove dead skin cells and makeup that has been left behind. Its other use is to balance the pH level on the surface of the skin and to make pores appear smaller.

The previous blog post shows how you can have the most effective result using a facial toner.A facial mist is similar to a toner  where it is used for anything from refreshing the face, adding moisture or to allow your  makeup to have a longer lasting wear. The difference is that toners allow serums and treatments to be absorbed better while also balancing your skins pH level. On the other hand a facial mist hydrates and isn't usually used to remove makeup but to add layers of hydration between applying moisturizer or makeup. The consistency is usually light and liquid like. Look for ingredients such as green tea extract or cucumber extract to help improve the appearance of pores and for good hydration.

Pre-makeup for summer!

Some people refuse not leaving the house without any makeup on, which is awesome. To keep those makeup looks long lasting here are some pre-makeup tips. Do you ever wonder why your pre-makeup routine is an important step to having long lasting makeup throughout the day? Having your skin prepped before applying your makeup  allows you to use less makeup product and can give your makeup look a luminous glow.
Blemishes hyperpigmentation, redness and dullness can be minimized by having a good pre-makeup routine. Not having to cover up all types of skin problem listed above will save you product in the long run.  Makeup is used to enhance what you already have, not to cover up what you don't want . Here are some pre-makeup essentials to help give that summer makeup look a lasting glow.
A facial cleanser that caters to your skins' needs such makeup removal or a gentle cleanser is best used with non harsh ingredients sch as heavy fragrances and scents.

A facial toner will  bring balance skin's pH levels after cleansing and helps for better absorption of other ingredients.
A serum helps to provide hydration or to improve appearance of skin.
An acne treatment makes  acne prone skin  less visible with ingredients such as salicylic acid.
A Moisturizer  helps to seal in the moisture on the skin's surface which prevents excessive oil production or dryness.
Sunscreen helps to protect skin against harmful sun rays. There are moisturizers that contain SPF  but it is best to use it separately to get more of an effective result. If a moisturizer's main focus is to keep skin moisturized then its primary focus won't be to protect against UV rays.

Reasons to keep your Bea@uty regimen going!

Now a days there are many social media sites buzzing about how a product might not work for them, or that it may  be pricey  but forget all of that. A product is as good as how well a routine you decide to set for yourself. So let us get straight to it !

Caking on the makeup, but forgetting to set up your beauty routine as you prepare for the next day.
Caking it on may be fun at first, but forgetting to take off that caked up face is the after fun! And no. Solely using makeup wipes and removers are not going to cut it! Instead try massaging a cleansing oil into the palm of your hand then massage into dry skin followed by rinsing it off. This massaging motion allows for new cells to surface your skin it also helps rid the oils and dirt on your skin. Then use any trusty reliable makeup wipes or remover you may have on hand, which is the second part of the cleansing routine.  You can go further into your routine it all depends on you and your skin type.

It is way over my beauty budget. The best products are always on hand. Look around you, your beauty cleansing oil could be a regular jar of coconut oil which can be used for almost anything . From using it as an alternative for cooking oil , body oil and some may use is as a moisturizer for their hair!

All in one beauty products.
if  your beauty products can multi-task then good for you, it may save time and money in your beauty routine. But if it's too good to be true then it might as well be! So, set that beauty routine and don't forget it !

It’s amazing how much makeup that we hang on to for future styles we have in mind but never actually get around to creating. We don’t generally think about it but makeup really does have an expiration date, and we should be especially careful when dealing with what we put near our eyes and face.

Here are a few tips and estimates on how to know when makeup is expired:

Eyes

Pencil Eyeliner: because it is generally an oil based foundation, it can last longest of your makeup to up 2 years. Sharpen your eyeliner regularly to avoid unnecessary bacteria from previous uses.

Liquid Eyeliner: can be used up to 3 months.

Mascara: 3 months. With every use of your mascara wand it is pumping air into the tube and also you are transferring bacteria from your face back into the tube.

Lips

Lip-glosses/lipstick tubes: can be used for up to two years.

Lip Pencils: Up to 2 years. Just like pencil eyeliner, lip liners should be sharpened with every use

Lip balm pots: 12 months. Personally I've stopped using these, because usually I'm on the go and love to use lip balms that come in a twist up tubs. It's easy to apply without using my finger.

Face

Powdered foundations and Blushes: because of its non-liquid state, you can hang on to it for up to 2 years.

Cream Applications: these can be used for up 12 months; even if it is an oil-based solution. Unlike eyeliner sometimes we are in a rush and don’t have the time to look for an appropriate brush to blend it in, usually we would use our fingers to get the blending job done.

For a better lasting shelf life as I've mentioned above; instead of applying and blending make-up with your hands, use brushes and sponges to avoid the spread of bacteria from your hand into you makeup and on your face. Cosmetics should generally be stored in a cool dry place for best results.
